Hospital Sisters Health System is recruiting for a Chief Administrative Officer to support the HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. The ideal candidate is a seasoned nursing leader that is comfortable managing in a matrix environment with a proven track record in successfully managing all nursing functions for their hospital. This leader should have a passion for community involvement and developing brand recognition for their hospital.

The Chief Administrative Officer will hold direct responsibility for strategic and operational leadership for the Women’s & Children’s services, ensuring alignment with pediatric providers to drive growth, quality, and program development. This leader serves as the primary operational representative of the children’s hospital, partnering closely with clinical, academic, and philanthropic stakeholders.

The Chief Administrative Officer will report directly to the Central Illinois Market Chief Nursing Officer and will partner with the Central Illinois Market team. This position will be based out of Springfield, IL and requires relocation to the area for regular onsite presence.

• Salary Range: $216,100 - $254,200
*A successful candidate's placement within the range will be based on several factors including direct healthcare nursing leadership experience, certifications, and education.

Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, management, finance or related field is required or must be actively pursuing degree and graduate within 2 years of assuming the role.
• 7 years of leadership experience in a hospital or health system, multi-specialty group practice, and/or integrated delivery system is required.
• Pediatric Nursing experience is preferred
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required within 90 days of date of hire.

•37 Women’s/Infant Beds (L&D, Post Partum, Perinatal)
•56 Level 3 NICU beds - NICU is currently under renovation and will increase to 60 beds
•38 Pediatric beds including PICU
•10 Bed Pediatric Day Hospital
-2,400 births per year
-4,400 OBED patients per year
-Level 3 Perinatal Center
-Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center
-Pediatric Transport Center

Education Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, management, finance or related field is required or must be actively pursuing degree and graduate within 2 years of assuming the role.

Experience Qualifications

  • 7 years leadership experience role in a hospital or health system, multi-specialty group practice and/or integrated delivery system is required.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required within 90 days of date of hire. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.
  • Certification in Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) is preferred.
